GlossyBox February - Review

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well and keeping yourselves warm. As the snow hit London, I had the perfect lazy day at home. This week I also received my GlossyBox February. I was so excited with the box over Xmas that I had forgotten that GlossyBox was going to take a break over January.

Anyways, once more the presentation was spot on, the box is amazing in a so very trendy hot pink box.

Inside my box this month, there were a couple of products from Davines, a brand well that I know well, as I have worked in hair salons for many years and therefore I have used some of their products before, but the ones I have received were new to me. They are great organic products, so I was pleased to find them there.

For some reason I have never been much of a fan of 2 in 1 products. I think something like that would be ideal for a guy but as I am a girl with long hair I just don't think that a body wash can do the job of the shampoo. I have never liked this sort of body wash/shampoo idea, so for this reason I will use as a body wash only. It's smells great though, can't complain about that.

Davines, Moisturizing balm. (travel size)
On the other hand, I don't mind creams or oils that have many uses in one. I believe that this sort of moisturising product can work well everywhere and I can't wait to use this one. It's a hair mask, something that I have been in need for a long time and also can be used as face cleanser or body moisturizer. Once more, I will stick with as hair mask only as I already have a wicked face cleanser which I have recently discovered and it's absolutely amazing.

Murad, Hybrids skin perfecting primer. (sample size)
I haven't used this yet, it's a tiny sample and believe it or not, I have never tried a primer before, so this one should be a good introduction.

FAB, Gentle body wash. (sample size)
I have never heard of this brand before but this body wash has no fragrance or colouring, ideal for anyone with sensitive skin which is not my case. Although sometimes I get patches of dry skin on my tattoo, so I will try it on my arm for sure. It will be interesting to try this as I would not have picked from the shelf myself.

Eyeko, Skinny eyeliner. (full size)
Quite an interesting idea by Eyeko, the eyeliner has a huge handle so you can sharpen the pencil until the end. Great, but not so practical to carry it around as it is huge when it's brand new. I have another eye pencil by Eyeko and I must say the quality is really good and the staying power is fantastic but the colour I received (pale pink) doesn't do much for me, I know I can use it as an 'eye opener' or highlighter but the other colour which some people got (plum), would have been better for me.

Well an interesting choice this month as there are many new products which I have would not have picked myself as I said, but true to it's intention the box brought me something new to try. So, I'm pleased with it, it's something outside the box, indeed.

January sales!

This post should be called 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'! January is now over and here is pretty much everything I managed to buy at the sales.
I must admit I never really go this crazy, but this Xmas I ended up getting loads of vouchers, which were absolutely fantastic. The vouchers combined with bargains were indeed a dangerous combination and then I got carried away.
Anyways, my winter wardrobe was in need of a revamp and here are the bits I shall be wearing in 2012.

From Gap, I bought 5 new long jumpers, some in lambs wool and some in cashmere. All of them are very warm and cosy, I have been wearing some of them non stop already. They look amazing with skinny and boots.

From Zara, I got loads of things. Starting with one of my best bargains, this sheepskin gilet originally priced £150 was my first snap from the sale indeed, as I was in my local Zara at the very early hours of Boxing day. There was only one on the rail, which had been wrongly priced at £199. As I had my eyes on that gilet for ages, I knew that was the wrong price and so I asked the sales assistant for a price check, I couldn't believe when she told me it had gone down to £50!
Pictured with some sweatshirts, my latest craze, they are warm and modern. I also couldn't resist this bright orange sweater which I shall be wearing towards spring.

From Zara still... Some shirts and T-shirts. I really needed some basics, so I got a cool dress for summer, a basic and elegant cream shirt, which I wanted for a long time too and a few t-shirts, striped ones. I am sooo into stripes right now, I just think they go with everything.

From Topshop, I got my mini duffer sheepskin jacket and a leather harness, the only item which wasn't on the sale. I just went crazy when I saw it.

Mixed accessories, the last of my Zara bargains was this Mongolian sheepskin bag, reduced from £80 to £17. Another fantastic bargain here is this silverlake belt from Benetton, which was just £11.50, plus a couple of leather gloves from Primark £4 each, and some accessories that I got for Xmas, rings and necklace from BHS.

Just some extra bits... Jumper from BHS and dress from M&S, were also half price. The scarf from Primark was just another thing I saw on the way(!).
My most fabulous buy of this bunch are these fantastic boots from Dune, which are completely made of sheepskin, with an outer distressed leather.They are extremely comfortable and warm, by far the best pair of shoes I have ever owned, I say that because I could believe when I first tried them on, they felt amazing straight away, reduced from £140 to £27, it was an incredible bargain!

And then...
Bag after bag...
This is what everything looks all together. OMG!

My next step in now to browse at Ikea's website as I think I need some storage for all these bits (and more)!

Raindrops keep falling on my head

Hi guys,

The weather has been gray and rainy, so it's the prefect time of the year for my wellingtons to come out. I am actually getting much more used to wear them, I really enjoy splashing the puddles as I walk along.
For a brisk walk, I chose a comfortable outfit with some new items. This thick jumper, which has a great texture is from Zara. I had seen a friend wearing it and I loved it straight away. When I saw it on the sale, I was super excited until I tried it on, then I wasn't so sure about it, so I actually let it go because I thought it didn't suit me. Suddenly, I completely changed my mind about it and ended up running back to get it.
The belt was another sale bargain, whilst browsing on Oxford St, I found this gorgeous belt for just £11.50! In the bag, please.
My skirt is also new, a Xmas present which I really liked. It's been ages since I wore a black mini and it is a woolen one, which is great for the colder days.

I was wearing: Jumper: Zara, Belt: Benetton, Bag: Coccinelle, Scarf: second hand shop, Wellingtons + Gloves: Primark, Skirt + Hat: Xmas presents.

Blown away

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. I am so happy to be back here writing to you all, the blog should be back to 'normality' very soon, I hope.
Anyways, I have so much to talk about that I don't even know where should I get started. Well, let's start from the top and that is from the hair.

I'm having so many problems with my hair lately, it's dry and gets tangled very easily. To comb is a total nightmare, I can feel the ends splitting as the comb goes through, not the nicest feeling really, is it? I do need another trim, the last one was around September and it's about time to chop some ends, even though I am not really keen on the idea as I want to keep my hair quite long.

Living in England, I suppose it doesn't help much. The weather conditions, the water as people will say, is the most blamed element over here for dryness of the hair and skin, unfortunately those are unavoidable causes. Also the cosmetic use, such as hair colouring and blow drying, could be causing the dryness on my hair too.
For my hair colouring, I use a professional product and I will only do my roots every month or so and I know for that reason I am not really damaging the rest of my hair. The hairdryer on the other hand is used constantly, I hate having my hair wet in the cold, so I never get the chance to give it a rest on that one. The habit became so big that even in the summer I dry my hair with the hairdryer. That really got me thinking of how important is to use the right tools. With the advance of technology, you don't have to damage your hair anymore. Nowadays, no one is burning their hair into some horrible hot metal plate, so hairdryers need to catch up too, we don't want just some hot air blowing, we need something that will help us to look good and also will help us with the condition of our hair.

I read about the new GHD Air hair dryer and it's meant to be the best on the market right now. For starters is a professional hairdryer so it's very powerful and fast, with advanced ionic technology, which is super important, this is what will reduce the frizz and make your hair softer and silkier, exactly what I need.
Other great features are the long 3m cable, I am tired of short cables where you can never reach the closest mirror and the sleek design which is for either right or left handed people and great for me too as I dry my hair with both hands and a cold button to help your hair set in place after blow dry.
I can't wait to try it!

PS: If anyone has an advice on a good hair treatment/ conditioning masque for dry hair please share it with me.

Tonight I'm posting a couple of pics from the new Hello Kitty bits I got for Xmas and some others that I just could not resist buying for myself.

Hello Kitty for Liberty was something I had blogged about it ages ago and I was certain that I wouldn't resist the range available at Boots. I had my eye on so many bits, but I ended getting the more useful stuff. Something really practical like the phone cover, which sadly is too small for my phone and it's going to be an ipod cover instead, a travel set with a gorgeous luggage tag and a passport cover, I totally adored these, I can't wait for my next trip now. In my suitcase, I shall carry my 3 fabulous lip glosses in super cute, collectible tins, all have amazing different flavours by the way.

For Xmas I also got some lip gloss, another super cute tin for my collection, a coin purse, which has a mini HK, kawaii! Then, making me laugh and labelled for 7 yrs old +, an adorable nail varnish set with HK nail art. Trendy kids... I'm loving it!

And the collection goes on.

Cold days

I'm so sorry for the lack of posting lately. The beginning of the year has started so busy already and the day doesn't seem to have enough hours for everything, it's so sad!

Anyways, I'm so happy that I have kept my new Topshop sheepskin jacket! It's been pretty cold lately and the jacket has proven to be an excellent buy indeed. I have even gone over the colour and now I actually quite like it. I don't know why I didn't warm to this colour straight away, it goes with loads of stuff I normally wear and also with the colour of my hair.

So, here's the look I have put together:

Glossybox December - Review

This post is coming a bit later than I intended but still, I was delighted to received my Glossybox December which has come a bit later than expected.

The Glossybox December was a little special treat indeed. The red box for starters, did set the festive mood and inside there were some delicious goodies.

This is absolutely divine, I received the Hamman delight and I just loved the smell, which took me back to Marrakesh. The foaming gel is fun and my skin felt extremely soft afterwards.

Nip + Fab, Spot Fix (full size)
I haven't used this yet but will very soon as I have some spots coming up, as we speak. This is a fast acting gel that targets blemishes.

Deborah Lippmann, Nail varnish (full size)
OMG! I was super excited when I saw this in the box, I literally screamed because I TRULY LOVE this colour and it's been a long time that I wanted to try this nail varnish in particular. Mega loving this!

Together with the fab nail varnish a handy nail varnish remover sachet to use on the go, it came along as a nice little touch.

Cargo, Classic lip gloss (full size)
No going wrong with this one either, a lovely very shiny lip gloss for the perfect pouty lips.

Blink + Go, Eyeshadow and Blush palette (full size)
A very bright and a delightful surprise. I loved all the colours which are full of pigment, perfect for highlighting too and as a blusher just the pink really, even so I would use very sparingly.

Must I say that this was a generous box too, all the products were full size. Loving it!

An impulsive buy? Topshop sheepskin

I hope you all have been well. Thank you all for the lovely messages on my Xmas post, I really appreciate it.

So...on my previous post, I said I was going to be showing you guys some of my sale buys. As I am still looking for bargains, more pictures should be coming soon, but for the meantime there is a special something that I ended up getting.
It wasn't what I had in mind, although I had already seen it on the website before hand but never thought that I would really find it on the sale.

The Topshop sheepskin mini duffle was half price! Just too much of a temptation to pass by.

There were 2 colours to chose from, Oxblood or Bottle green. Both were very nice, first I was really tempted to go for the green, it looked edgy, cool and more of a statement. The Oxblood was also nice, an easier colour to wear and still a nice shade of burgundish brown, I wish it was more burgundy than it is though. Anyways, it took me almost 1 hour to decide which one to go for. In the end as I have pictured, I went for the Oxblood as the jacket had a better fitting than the green one.

I'm very happy with this purchase no doubt because this jacket is so cozy and really warm, plus I love the buckles and the quilted detail which really sold to me straight away, my only uncertainty still is the colour... and that is why I am calling it an impulsive buy.
Is this a keeper or not?

Just before Xmas

Hi guys,

Xmas is just around the corner and I am happy to be relaxed at home, having a really cozy evening.
So, tonight I'm posting some pictures taken the other day when I was out and about Xmas shopping. The outfits is the most comfortable as possible for the long day walking through the crowds.
At this time of the year Covent Garden has a very festive atmosphere with a gorgeous and huge Xmas tree up, and the smell of mulled wine in the air really captured the feeling of Xmas.
I also had an early Xmas gift to myself, this sweatshirt from Zara which I have had my eyes on for a while, it's already one of my favourite buys for this winter.

Versace for H&M again! - New collection Spring/Summer

Hi guys,

Due to huge success and popularity of the Versace collection for H&M and to much excitement of the fans, Versace will release a new Spring/Summer collection for H&M. This collection will be released on 19th of January!

On the day that the original collection came out, I managed to go to the H&M at High St Kensington, which is a smaller branch but they still hold a small corner of the designer selection. This was my first time seeing one of the H&M designer collections and here is what I witnessed.

11:00 AM
There was a queuing system and a very organized queue inside the store, which was surprising, I was expecting mental craziness but there was none of that going on. The corner with the Versace range was small but I believe it had a bit of everything in it. A small amount of people were let in, with a limited time to shop and each customer could only buy one of each garment. Still, I saw some people literally scooping everything they stocked and coming out with loads of hangers.
Pictures were forbidden and so I attempted to take some pics with my mobile without the flash, which were totally useless, as they came out blurred, so the easiest way I thought to get the feeling of what was going on was to approach someone and take their picture holding the stuff, I even had in mind a post, something like what did you get at Versace for H&M? Taking people's pictures is generally an easy thing to do but that day it proved to be the hardest since shoppers didn't want to reveal their identities.
I was in a hurry, I couldn't spend ages hanging around fishing for people, so I left.

2:30 PM
As I was still near by H&M, I wanted to have another look to see if there was anything left. When I got there, H&M staff were already dismounting the Versace corner and moving the left overs to the middle of the shop. Maybe there was one rail of left over dresses and a few shoes and belts. I couldn't believe how quickly everything had sold!

Anyways, this time around there will be no queuing going on, at least not on the shops since this Spring/Summer range will only be sold online. Fast fingers on the mouse!

A preview:

A very fruity collection! The same print is used on dresses, bikinis, sandals, ballerinas and so on. A lot of gold, of course, adorning white jeans are a guaranteed hit. The same goes for the body con dresses and this time around the high sandals come in gold. Screaming Monte Carlo or Essex, your choice.

Elle Taiwan has a real life Hello Kitty on the cover of their 20th anniversary special edition. In fact , there are two special covers and I am wondering if there is a spread inside featuring HK in couture clothing? I really would love to get my hands on these.

Taiwan really seems the place for Hello Kitty, since they already have a hospital, a hotel, an airline and a restaurant all HK themed it doesn't surprise me that she is now the cover of Elle.

A trip to Harrods

I'm posting some pictures of what I found at Harrods on my quick mission to buy some Hello Kitty stuff.
I'm so excited! Xmas is so near and my Hello Kitty stocking decoration is already up on my Xmas tree. As soon as I saw it, a few months back at the website, I just knew I had to have one.

Then I also found some Hello Kitty loves Harrods plushy toys, so sweet but a little bit expensive of course.

After paying a visit to the HK 'corner' and spending about one hour there, I could not resist taking a picture with this enormous bear that leads you to the very busy 'world of Christmas'.

You can tell that I feel like a kid on those department stores!

Sporty spice

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well, keeping yourselves warm. Well, yesterday when I took these pictures it was freaking freezing. Therefore I decided to wear warm and comfortable clothes, sensible and wintery as some would say. To be honest, I don't own many comfortable clothes, tracksuits and things like that but basically this is everything I have, thrown together. A mixture of sweatpants and sweatshirt with a big scarf and my cozy sheepskin jacket to keep me toasty.
Keeping within the 'sport' theme, yeah I am on my Sporty Spice moment, I am waring a pair of wedge trainers. Anyone fancy a jog with me?

What can you buy with £1?

Hi guys,

Today I am wearing this leather parka, which I bought at the Portobello Market a couple of years ago. I had completely forgot about it until the other day when I found it hanging on my boyfriend's clothes rail.
It's in a superbly perfect condition and the lining is quite thick which is perfect for the colder days, it has a detachable hood as well, basically looks pretty new and it was JUST £1!!!!! That is right, this parka only cost me only one pound and therefore it had to come home with me.

For starters, I wasn't sure about the fit since it's quite over sized and the arms are so long. I nicknamed it the fisherman's jacket and worn very few times ever since but now, it's actually grown on me a lot more and I want to wear it with thick long knits, colourful ones preferably. As for the arms, I have folded them and I think they are ok. I mean, for the price I can't complain as this is the perfect easy going, relaxed, day jacket. Wouldn't you agree?

GlossyBox November- review

Hi guys,

I'm excited to be reviewing the GlossyBox November. I couldn't wait for those lovely products to be delivered to my door and my fabulous pink box never fails, it always comes full of joy and nice things.

So, what we got this month:

Arbonne FC5, Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme. (Travel size)
As soon as I opened this is up, it was the first impression. This hand cream is made with fresh kiwi and it has quite a sweet strong smell, to be honest I wasn't very keen on this scent at all and I was expecting it to be more moisturizing, as it's says ultra hydrating cream. The positive side for me on this product is the size, it's small enough to carry around.

Dead Sea Spa Magic, Dead Sea Bath Salts. (Sample size)
I haven't tried this yet but I am wondering if this is just normal sea salt? It's a natural exfoliant and it can also be used to relieve foot pain. Prepared in a certain way can be used as a foot bath and kept over for 2 weeks.

Monu, Recovery Balm. (Full size)
It's a moisturizer for sensitive and stressed skin but can be used for all skin types. I liked the smell of rose and bergamot which is very soft but still nice. It's also the type of moisturizer I would use in the morning before applying my make up as it's quite a light formula.

Nail Rock, Designer Nail Wraps. (Full size)
As much as I would love to try this straight away, my nails at moment can not handle anything, they still so weak and breaking so badly that I can't apply the stickers right now :-(
Anyways, I got the leopard print design, which is fine by me. I would most definitely wear all the design Nail Rock have, they are all pretty cool. I took a close up picture of the card that comes inside which shows all the range. The applications seems to be easy (no heat necessary) and I can't wait to try it.

I love Serge Lutens! I had already blogged about his perfumes, my favourite one is Fleur d'oranger which is a truly beautiful scent but it was ever so nice to receive a couple of samples from his range.
L'eau is a scent that can be unisex, it's very clean and fresh. There is no going wrong with that one.
Vitriol d'Oeillet on the other hand is strong and flowery. It's claimed as a fragrance for men and woman which I strongly disagree. It's a totally feminine scent and I bet it's not every one's cup of tea either. I like strong scents and this one was definitely for me. I really loved it.

Overall I was very pleased with the GlossyBox November. I quite like trying different creams and perfumes, so I prefer this to nail varnish. I am saying this as I read some other reviews this month and I must say I am quite pleased with what I got.

And December they will have a special surprise Xmas box! Can't wait!
Plus some more fantastic news as there will be a GlossyBox for him. That's right a GlossyBox Men, which is the prefect little gift for him this Xmas.

Like magpie

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. Today I'm posting some pictures from an outfit of few days ago, it wasn't as cold as it is now, so I took maximum advantage to wear a light jacket but still took my coat out with me, just in case.

The look is basic, this is the new dress I got from H&M. As you guys can see it's all draped at the front but straight and longer at the back. I decided to make the front a bit shorter and even more asymmetric in order to make the dress edgier and to show off the detail on my leggings too. As for the rest, I was just like a magpie, attracted to anything shiny around my wardrobe to add a futuristic touch to this look.
I love a bit of metallic leather and although it was risque, I liked the silver and cooper together.
What do you guys think of it?

Bag fix- Cala & Jade

Hi guys,

Every now and then I feel the need to get new handbag, specially when I come across something really, really cool like this, I cannot give my mind a rest.

I came across 'Cala & Jade' a few months back and totally fell in love with their bags straight away. The duo behind 'Cala & Jade' are the Norwegians designers Nina Amble Sandaas and Tina C. Skaar, together they created a stunning range.

The bags are quite minimalist, yet very funky and practical. The Gumma bag for example, is one of my favourite designs. It's indeed a very clever and stylish one. Consisting of a leather frame with an interchangeable inner bag which will change the look of the bag completely. The Kelim collection is definitely very unique and the one I most desire, for sure.

Gumma bags are also available all in leather or also with a beautiful denim interior. I loved this design because it's big enough for everything I need to carry around. Plus, I have been in love with those ethnic fabrics for a long time.

Another fav of my mine is the Cleo bag, I can't get enough of the Kelim pattern.

So the bags from 'Cala and Jade' are just fantastic and definitely on my wish list. I am wondering how can get hold of one asap?

Leather and studs

Hi guys,

I am loving some of these true rock chick pieces from Zara. The studded shopper and clutch are absolutely divine. In fact, I have already tried the shopper, it looks amazing and it's so bling, but the bag itself is quite flimsy as it's made of a very soft leather and my main concern would be the handles. They are made of the same soft leather and unfortunately they don't have any reinforcement around it, so and I think they would either stretch or potentially came apart if you overload it. Bearing in mind they already have to cope with the weight of the studs too.
On the other hand this is a fantastic bag if you don't want to carry much stuff around. Truly glam and I really love it.
I've only seen the clutch on the window and it looks sturdier, I need to have a closer inspection, though.

Then, I came across some other great studded items...

And I am loving the gloves and the necklace too, to wear one at the time, of course!

New in- Rings and Hello Kitty

Hi guys,

Sharing with you some of the new bits and bobs I got this week.

On a quick trip to H&M I got this stack of rings. They are quite interesting and heavy too. There are 3 rings on a pack, a round one with 4 layers, which is very chunky, a long hinged armoured one and a real big one with the ball in the middle, my favourite of them all.
Great price, £10.

I also ended getting a dress, I wore it today, so outfit pics will be coming soon.

And for the Hello Kitty lovers...

A new addition to my HK PEZ collection. I found this emo/gothic PEZ dispenser super cute, just £1,50 at Topshop.

After eating all my Pez sweets, I shall use my Hello Kitty toothpaste, toothbrush and mouthwash set. In a blink of an eye, this was straight in my shopping trolley, I can't wait to try it.
The toothpaste is strawberry flavoured, which reminds me of my childhood and the mouthwash is pink... ohhhh, totally adorable.

Press lunch with Florian Jayet.

This week I had the opportunity to meet the designer Florian Jayet. Back in September last year I had the pleasure to see his first collection at London Fashion week. I was very impressed by the boldness and by the construction of his garments. So I was over the moon when I got invited to meet him for a press lunch over champagne, in a prestigious members club in central London.

It was an informal lunch and I must admit at first I was a bit apprehensive to meet and interview him but Florian made us feel at ease straight away, together with Andrea Abraham of Fashion Mode.

Firstly, Andrea gave us a good insight about Florian's latest show for Fashion Mode at LFW. Where the inspirations came from, about the fabrics used, the concept of the collection and so on. Then, the questions started to come up and Florian was just so friendly and easy to talk to. He really made us feel very special.

What did Pretty Portobello ask the fashion designer Florian Jayet.

PP: So in what stage are you at for your next collection?
FJ: All the collection has been prepared, the fabrics have been chosen at Premiere Vision, in Paris and all the patterns have been cut, ready for the first samples. This is also going to be a bigger collection.

PP: Wow, how come you have already done it all so quickly?
FJ: I do most of the work myself, playing and draping fabric over the mannequin constantly but also have a small and amazing team that helps me.

PP: What is the Florian Jayet woman like?
FJ: She's a very powerful woman but she's a sex kitten also. There is an element of romanticism on all my clothes no matter how strong they are.

PP: So, you told me that your last collection was very soft and fluid but also inspired by Japanese elements, such as school girls. How about your next collection, what is it going to be?
FJ: That is a secret.
(Well, I would love to tell you how his next collection is going to be like but I am sworn to secrecy, I'm afraid.)

PP: I've noticed that you use a lot of white on your shows, is there a reason why?
FJ: Well, I guess I like white. White is definitely the new black an it is an elegant colour. The details of my garments come up better in white too.

PP: Do you have any surprises for us on your next show?
FJ: Yes of course, loads. I am working with some amazing fabrics and hopefully you will all enjoy it.

Spying with my little eye - Equestrian boots

Hi guys,

I decided to write today's post, after seeing a friend wearing a pair of really cool boots on a horrible rainy day. It's a shame I couldn't take a picture of them but they were matt black and quite edgy.
Soon she told me they were equestrian boots and I was surprised with the fact that they were plastic. They didn't look like it, they just looked so nice and not plasticy at all. This may be old news for people that are used to ride but the last time I was on a horse, I was probably around 6 years old and it could have been a donkey instead of a horse, not sure. So, all this equestrian stuff is pretty new to me.

I wanted to buy a new pair of wellingtons, not something I've been rushing on, but I've been thinking that the pair that I own from Primark are a bit heavy. I normally only wear them in snow conditions because they are not very comfortable to wear on a rainy day. So, when I saw these, I thought they would be an elegant and a fantastic alternative to the wellies. Plus they look very stylish and are quite light and comfy.

I've already had a look at some brands and the ones I liked the most are by Toggi, Harry Hall and Decathlon. I don't think Decathlon are available on the UK and they were the ones my friend had on.

So they will look something like this...

Chanel Peridot - Nail varnish of the week

Hi guys,

As we approach Halloween my chosen nail varnish is the Chanel Peridot. Finally, I am posting some decent swatch pictures. After a lot of dilemma whether I should buy this colour or not, I totally gave in and I can tell you that it was totally worth it.
I am so head over hills for Peridot. I have already worn this colour a few times and always get nice compliments.

Peridot is a duo-chrome shade of gold and green, so it changes it's colour as the light hits it in different ways. It's a hard colour to capture, so I took a few pictures of the 3 different shades that you will get.

I took these pictures under a spotlight with no flash. That is the nicest shade for me. A rich gold, very shiny, almost a minx look-a-like.

Under a second light, from far above, you get the second tone of Peridot, a goldish-green colour. The gold still coming through strong and shiny but the green is definitely in there.

Under the same light, just needed a hand turn to catch the third shade of this beautiful colour. Like a beetle wing, this is a lovely shade of metallic green.

As you move your hands and lighting the colour of the nail polish will change. It looks fabulous!

The application was easy. Well, specially now that my nails are peeling and breaking so badly, I had to cut them really short. So that always makes it easier and quicker to apply any nail varnish. Anyways, you will only need 2 coats, that is it. It's smooth and it's the right formula. I done my nails without any tidying up afterwards at all! That in itself it's a huge plus. Another fantastic thing is that it dries fast too.
On the downside Chanel nail varnishes can be a bit chip galore. The last couple of times I a had huge chip just within a couple of days. So, the staying power is not of the best I have seen.

I still would recommend this because I loved this colour.

Gothic Brides

Hi guys,

Last week or so there was the bridal fashion week going on in NY, which was full of surprises for brides to be and buyers.
Forget the beautiful white or cream traditional gown, the trend on the catwalk seems to be the gothic bride. That is right! As we approach Halloween, the black bride gown was displayed by a couple of designers. You may be thinking some new designers who want to promote themselves but this time around was the queen of the brides, Vera Wang who's had the most black gowns for her bridal show, 9 of the 15 dresses were black.

She said, "with the amount of weddings we had this year it was nice to come up with something different."

Without a doubt these are some amazing dresses, I wouldn't wear them as bridal but for a black tie occasion they are absolutely stunning.

What is your opinion on it? Do you think this trend will catch?

Retro Vintage day

Hi guys,

The look I am posting today is very 70's. I haven't worn a pair of flares in ages but today I decided to dig out this fabulous pair which was given to me by a friend a few years ago (luckily they still fit me). I used to love flares and had my fair share wearing them. I like the fact that flares have super long legs, so a pair of wedges is a must.

To keep on the retro vibe, nothing better than a little sparkle with some lurex, this top was one of my £2 bargains from Portobello and it was the same story with my gilet another super bargain, just £3 from a second hand shop. I really like to mix bargains and second hand things with nicer items.

I was wearing: Jeans: Sass and Bide, Ring: Alexander McQueen, Top and Bag: From Portobello, Jacket: bought from a friend, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Sunglasses: Balenciaga.

Note: My boyfriend has asked if I was coping Madonna this week?!?!?! He obviously keeps up with the gossip magazines, lol.

Dominique Lucas - LFW Exhibition

Jade Dupe- Nail Varnish of the week.

Hi guys,

This week on a trip to Superdrug, I came across this dupe Jade nail varnish. Jade, is the impossible, most collectible nail varnish from Chanel and so far I have only come across 2 good dupes, one by Catrice (previously featured on the blog too) and this one, from a brand called Famous by Sue Moxley.

I came across this brand last year, whilst watching some make up reviews on you tube. Firstly, I tried the shimmer brick, which is just like Bobby Brown's, truly fabulous. So, when I went there to stock on some blushers, I saw this.

The colour is 'Soft Jade', it's a light green with a shimmer to it. The varnish is very liquid and extremely sheer. I used 3 coats and the application was not very easy either. I suppose, I could have done with 2 coats and maybe it would have been better if I did, as it would be a little lighter and closer to the real deal.
The staying power, is good. I always use Seche Vite topcoat, and so far I haven't have many chips.

As usual it all came lovely packaged on the pink glossybox box, which I like to keep it.

Dermalogica, Multivitamin thermafoliant (travel size)
A powerful skin polisher. You will only need a little bit and work softly into your skin, it will make you face soft and refreshed.

Dermalogica, Multivitamin recovery masque (travel size)
A powerful masque concentrated with antioxidant and vitamins. I used after the scrub and relaxed on my sofa for 15 min. My skin looked radiant and taut after it.

I also loved the little Dermalogica bag! It came with a tiny sample inside.
Dermalogica, Renewal lip complex.
A delicate treatment that restore your lip tissue but I haven't tried it yet.

Leighton Denny, nail varnish.
This is a nice blue metallic, the colour is called Sex Kitten and since metallic nail varnish is the trend for this season, I can't wait to give this one a go.

Stila, smudge stick waterproof eyeliner.
The colour is Moray a beautiful mossy green with some sprinkles of gold in it. Amazing colour to wear with my green eye shadows.

Robert Piguet, eau de parfums.
I've heard of Robert Piguet and his expensive range of parfums before, so I was over the moon to receive 3 samples. Those scents are serious business they will stay with you all day long, so a little goes a long, long way.
I liked Calypso, edgy and spicy and Fracas, tuberose infused. Visa was nice but it reminds me much of Lolita Lempicka.

Kids bag inspired Louis Vuitton

Hi guys,

I have previously posted and chatted to you about how Melissa has been a very popular brand in Brazil for years and years. From my childhood, I remember owning so many different pairs of Melissa plastic shoes, but there was one pair in particular that stirred the world of young girls fashion and was a huge kick for Melissas. This particular pair of shoes used to come with a free plastic bum bag, to be worn together with your 'melissinha' shoes as they were called.
I remember being around seven years old when the frenzy was happening all over my school, everybody wanted a melissinha with the bum bag. After the huge success, they released some sort of bags as well, I can't quite remember but think I even owned one, together with the infamous bum bag which I vividly remember having a white one.

From somewhere in the mid 8o's, the melissinha bag, looked just like this.

So, if any of those bags managed to survive until today, I think they would probably be the vintage, granny version of the LV plastic shopper, which is a modernized version of the 80's kids bag. Wouldn't you agree?

(Easy enough to be copy cat-ied all around.)

Autumn, navajo and leaves.

Hi guys,

Beautiful autumn day in London, perfect to wear my navajo poncho, which is not too heavy and it's just very cosy like a big blanket. I got this poncho on sale earlier this year, it was a real bargain, only twenty pounds from Topshop.
So, for a different look I belted it up and it looks more like a kimono this way. It's also easier to wear it like this since it stays in place all day long.

My necklace was made by myself. It's a long chain with loads of charms, picturing different saints. I brought it from home, for extra protection!

London Fashion Week Street Style - Part 4

Hi guys,

Saving the best for last, I hope you all enjoy part 4 of street style pictures taken at LFW.
Well it's was not the intention but there were so many interesting hats and head pieces that I could not help gathering them on this post.

This is no doubt my favourite shot, super retro chic.

The first thing that came into my mind when I saw this girl, was a scene from SATC (the film), where Carrie Bradshaw is speaking to Charlotte about the wedding and says - 'I can't believe it, I had a bird on my head'...
OMG, this girl indeed, also had one on hers! Laughs.

Cool hats around Somerset house. I can spot a Vivienne Westwood hat by a mile. The blue one, on the first picture, is quirky and perfect for guys. On the other hand the pirate hat, suits everyone. I love it, I do have one myself but it's one of the items that rarely comes out my closet.

It's like carnival, as soon as it's over , it's time to start planning it all over again.

Single nail

Hi guys,

My nail ring has finally arrived! It took ages to come, I had almost forgotten about it.
It's meant to be worn on your little finger, but since my fingers are quite thin, it also fits on it's neighbour. I really, really liked it, so much that now I am thinking of buying some more. Maybe it would be nice to have a pair for the 'single nail' duo, or a silver one. I wouldn't bother with bronze since the gold when wears out will look like it.

I am apologising for the quality of the picture taken with my mobile phone in the poor lighting, technology has not been been on my side really... I haven't been posting lately due some problems with my computer and now I have to sort my camera out, drama.

I am wearing Chanel Particuliere nail varnish, I wanted to take pictures whilst wearing Peridot which I eventually bought it. (Told you guys!) but none of them came out well since it was too much gold going on for the camera but it looked good in real life.

A cute little pot, which is ideal to carry around in your pocket. It's organic yarrow and feels really emollient, it worked well on my dry lips and believe me my lips are very dry.

Plum, scent by Mary Greenwell. (Travel size)
A chypre based scent. I love grown up, strong scents but this one it's not for me at all. It's a bit too strong and very far from the powdery scents I'm used to wear.

HD Brows, eye and brow palette. (Full size)
I must say this was my favourite product of the box. Well, firstly because I love an eye brow kit and this could not be more complete, with 4 different shades. But since I will mainly be wearing one of these shades for my brows, the other ones can be worn as an eye shadow and I suppose if I wet them they can also be worn as an eyeliner.

Close on my favourite product. It even comes with a double brush. I was so in need of one of them!

Fred Butler at London Fashion Week

Hi guys,

I hope you all enjoy these beautiful and colourful pictures I've taken at the Fred Butler presentation at the Portico Rooms of Somerset House at London fashion week.

There were 4 models standing at the corners of the room, each wearing a different colour neoprene dress. Outfits were bursting with textures and volume, from cocoon sleeves to big spiral scarves. There was plenty of fabric twisted and layered in all the accessories too, from the earrings to the shoes, which were delicately covered in fabric in the shape of petals.

Thinking ahead

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. Having a little break from the LFW posts and despite the weather being so warm now, (crazy isn't it?) last week when it was a bit colder, I was already browsing on the internet for some new items for my winter wardrobe.
Then a friend from work told me about this Swedish brand which has just arrived to the UK, I really like the Swedish minimalistic style and the Swedish brands are so cool, therefore I couldn't wait to check on the Ellos website.

Whilst browsing through the jackets, I selected some of my favourite ones to share with you. From classic to pure glam, these are great key pieces, which I think are a must in any wardrobe.

The Rodnik band in Art meets fashion... Again

'The Rodnik Band' fashion label, known for fusing style with art is back in 'Art meets fashion... Again'' currently with a pop up exhibition at the St Martins Lane Hotel in collaboration with Opera Gallery London.

The label will be showing exciting accessories by Tatty Devine for The Rodnik Band and wearable artworks created for the label by cult French street artist David Gouny. The exhibition also features works of artists including Mr. Brainwash (from the Banksy academy award nominated documentary.)

Very interesting and so worth it a look. Check it out.

Francesca Marotta at London Fashion Week

Hi guys,

I was so excited for Francesca Marotta's debut presentation at London Fashion Week.
Francesca has been working within the fashion industry for a long time, as a well known stylist and now we have the opportunity to see her work as a very talented designer, I couldn't be happier for her because she's also a friend of mine.

The collection entitled “A la Recherche du Temps Perdu” was held at the beautiful Saint Martins Lane hotel. It was an informal and very interesting way to appreciate all the work she has put into the collection and showed how beautiful and well constructed her garments are.

Models were wearing a selection of evening dresses and gowns with exquisite fabrics and the attention to the detail was impeccable. The colour scheme used was black, blues and metallic hues of mustard and burgundy.

The centre piece was this beautifully embellished black gown, a real haute couture dress.

In detail, a picture of my favourite dress. I loved the details of the puff sleeves, the texture of the fabric and mainly the back which was laced from top to bottom in the best corsetry style. (pictured on the gallery below)

My look for London Fashion week

Hi guys,

I wanted to wear bright colours but I wasn't very sure about mixing black and orange, so in order to totally avoid the pumpkin/Halloween look, I added some extra colour into it. My navajo scarf which has hints of turquoise matches with the colour of my bag and it was just the right accessory to compliment this look, bringing everything nicely together.

A relaxed approach, since it was day 3 of LFW and all I wanted was to be comfortable. This picture was taken at the beautiful St Martins lane hotel, where I attended to a fab presentation, which I will be blogging about it tomorrow.

Felder + Felder - London Fashion Week

Hi guys,

Felder + Felder was one of the shows I really enjoyed. The twins Daniella and Anette are betting on a rock chic spring/summer full of black and white dresses, transparency and some gorgeous prints.
A touch of fetish was added by the gorgeous leather harnesses and extravagant necklaces.
There's a dash of colour too, greens and oranges were subtly present with loads of light blue metallic leather on jackets, skirts and backpacks.

I totally adored the leather harness used throughout the show. I want them all!

Campaign for wool

Just before I dash off to LFW, I am doing a quick post on the 'Campaign for Wool'.

The campaign for wool is promoting the use of wool, which is a natural, renewable, biodegradable and durable fibre. It all started a few years back, as the wool industry was declining badly with a parallel threat that came from new man-made synthetic fibres, often oil-based, which were providing stiff competition in the areas where wool had traditionally triumphed – fashion, carpets and insulation.

Not only considering the environmental side of it, it was sad to see many farmers losing their confidence in the industry and the number of sheep flocks started to get smaller. Farmers were being paid less for their sheeps’ fleeces than the cost of having them shorn. Unbelievable, isn't it?

So, in 2008 HRH Price of Wales started the 'Campaign for Wool', which not only helps reinvigorate the wool industry but also should bring awareness to the consumer.
The consumer being the most important in my opinion, since we are the ones making the demands on the products we want to buy.

For the celebrations this year British brand Jigsaw, had one of the most original ideas and brought the sheep to the city. For someone like me from a (huge) city, who's never had the chance to see them, it was amazing! They are so cute, especially the little lamb, I was totally in love with it.

Wool Week 2011 included the opening of the exhibition Wool Modern, exclusive wool handbags launched by Harvey Nichols, video's playing at Harrods store, Jigsaw bringing sheep to the city, woolly performers at Selfridges to name a few stores that were participating on the event.

The blogsphere is an amazing world. Like magic, from one blog to another the trends spread as quick as a bush fire, even the ones you have forgotten.
A couple of years back, Nicole Richie was dressed like Lady Gaga for the cover of Blackbook magazine.

So, the picture below which has been posted in many blogs recently (I have seen it in three different ones already) it's really reviving the nail ring and spreading it like fire.

I must say I also loved the idea, so I had to investigate this case further... Originally the ring is made by Bijulesnyc, to be worn on your pinky finger, costing $166.
But nowadays there are many options on Ebay and I could not help myself, for just over £2, I ordered one.

I went for a gold one as well but you there's a matt gold and silver to choose from. Just search for 'ring nail' on Ebay.

Chanel Peridot swatch

Hiya,

Yesterday, when passing by the Chanel counter I could not resist a quick stop and a swatch of the fall nail varnish collection.

This one is called Peridot and it grew on me pretty quickly. It's an extremely metallic gold (which almost looks like a minx) with a green tone to it.
So in the daylight or under a strong spotlight it looks very gold and in the shadow, looks gold metallic green, almost like an insect wing, it's one of those amazing colours!

The price has gone up as well, now a bottle costs £18. It's a rip off, I know but this colour has been proving hard to resist and it's limited edition too.

I was surprised with the application, it was very smooth and uniform, it only needs two coats and I just read about using a black nail varnish under it to make the colour pop up, what a good idea.

If you are wondering, there's a dupe for Peridot, a nail varnish from Sephora called 'Diving in the Maldives', so if you are lucky enough to live near a Sephora, it's worth to check it out.

Today we will be window shopping at Miu Miu in Bond St.

Already in display are all the glittery ankle boots in all different colours and majority of them have been sold out, they now have a wait list going on.
Modern Cinderellas were quicker than never!

The gold pair above is for display purpose only, as they were used on the catwalk.

Although, this bag for me is the real star of the show!

Of course, there will be many copies of the glittery boots, in fact I have already seen one, a really bad one, coming soon in another post.

New in my closet -Skull scarf

Hi guys,

Today I am posting some pictures of my new scarves, in less than a month a managed to buy 4 really cool skull scarves. Amazing!

Not so long ago, Topshop was selling these over sized skull and feathers scarf. I saw someone wearing it and I had to ask her where was it from. The very same evening I bought them online, I ended up buying both because I could not chose just one.
Reasonably priced at £18.

From Primark, I got this silky thin scarf, the skull print on this one, reminds me more of a scan image. Last night, I got another one so I can stitch them either side by side or just together giving me a silky feeling on both sides.
Here they were pictured side by side, just £3 each.

On a visit down the Portobello Road last week, I snapped this pashmina, the skulls are very much on the McQueen style. An amazing find and price, just £5.

I love my scarves, they really compliment any outfit. How about you? Is it an accessory that you go for?

Fashionistas biggest nail varnish trend for A/W 2011

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. So sorry for the lack of posting lately but the days just seem to go so fast... still, catching up with you tonight I am blogging about the new and hot nail varnishes collections coming out in September.

It's been a big surprise that both Chanel and Dior are releasing blue nail varnishes, inspired by the shades of denim, for their A/W collections.
There's plenty to choose from, shades that range from deep and medium blue, to pale blue.

Chanel comes out with 'Les Jeans de Chanel' a trio of nail varnishes exclusively created for the Fashion Night Out, which will be released on September 8th.
The collection will be available through the end of September only.

Versus

Dior came out with 'Blue Tie' a collection with 2 really nice blue nail varnishes. One of them really caught my eye, the darker one, called 'tuxedo' has an amazing shimmer to it, which I truly adored.
I believe these are already available as I have seen them at the Dior counter.

So, the colour of moment is definitely BLUE but the question is which team are you going for?

Summer is back

Hi guys,

Today a summery outfit post, a look that has a tale to tell.

Starting by the scarf which I dug right from the bottom of my drawer, something that I bought like 6 yrs ago and never worn it before, one of those funny items. I went off the colour straight after I bought it. I was surprised at how it has survived in my closet this long... good news for me because I think it's perfect for this look, bringing everything nicely together.

Then, I booked a trip to Morocco after seeing a friend of mine with those shoes! I spent almost 2 days walking through the souks until I found them.

Time for my bustle skirt to come out. It only makes it a very few times in a year. Just to clarify that my skirt is not stuck anywhere that it shouldn't be!

Hi guys,

Another quick make up post tonight, about Sephora. I miss Sephora so much, I have only been once to the shop they used to have at Brent Cross shopping centre. I remember going there with a friend and I loved it. Not only for the style of the shop, which was awesome, it was something like MAC on a bigger scale but also for the quality of the products and their prices.

If I had known back then that Sephora would close it's doors for the UK market, I would have stocked up on loads of make up brushes! It seems to be a huge shame that Sephora has never made big in the UK. When I first came across it's huge store hidden in Brent Cross, I never understood why they never had a store in the centre of the town, it would have been a huge success as it has proven to be in Paris for example, apparently the store as Champs Elysee has queues at the front door.

Anyways, I am always jelous of anyone who's able to buys Sephora products. Especially now... Look at this ingenious idea, amazing for travelling and for your make up bag, all you need is 4 brushes into 1.

This slick wand has 2 brushes for the eyelids, one for the eyeliner and one for eyebrow. The brushes are combined with magnets, so they stay amazingly in place.

Practical and gorgeous. A MUST have.

I hope you all have been well. Today I am sharing some new items and bargains that I got this week.

Fabric boots from Zara, they were on sale for £10! They are a combination of canvas and leather, pretty cool to be worn with jeans or bare legs. They can also be folded and worn as a ankle boot too.

Paul Smith Rose perfume, I smelled this on someone and absolutely loved it. It's a mixture of rose and green tea, which stays on me for ages. Light and beautiful for the summer.

Zara silk top, a total bargain of Ebay. Lately, I have been in love with minimalist and classic pieces.

Louis Vuitton window display (making of)

I had to post this video which is the making of one of the most interesting window displays at Louis Vuitton ever.

Billie Achilleos is an young, British and creative artist who's turned LV purses and accessories into 'bag-animals' such as chameleons, crickets and beavers.

Each animal is meant to represent an element of the design of the product, the armadillo for example highlights the soft yet durable leather and the chameleon is a palette of colours.

I am back with another simple outfit which I wore the other day. I love the cut of these shorts, they are so different and they truly remind me of garments around the 1800's. It's funny because I have seen pictures of this style in historic fashion books, where I can only imagine one of the 3 musketeers wearing. For that reason, they are a bit boyish (I could not imagine any woman wearing something like that in those times) so I am adding a touch of girliness to the outfit with my new sandals.

I am keeping it all very simple but glamouring it up with some beloved accessories.

I hope you all have been well. Today's outfit is minimalist and simple, an easy option on my day off. The weather in England has been terrible as we haven't had a proper summer yet, quite the opposite, the sky is grey and it has been raining non- stop.
So in between showers, I quickly snapped these pics. It's not warm, neither cold and I chose to go out in a maxi dress with my new kimono. It's the 'semi summer' wardrobe for a nonexistent summer, get the summer feeling without the sun!

New in my wardrobe

Hi guys,

Today a peep on my new purchases. I could not resist the sales and ended up grabbing some bargains!

The Kimono jacket is from Zara, (I just got it out of the bag) I had my eye on this one for a while and I was glad when I saw it on sale, it was reduced from £69 to £39 and now it's going for £29. The dress is from H&M at it's normal price of £7.99, a bargain! The print is very cool and it's just an easy, comfortable piece. I might to have snap a few more in different colours.

Then I got some shoes...

Again another pair of shoes I that I had my eyes on, because they are not very high and are incredibly comfortable. For me, it's so hard to find comfortable sandals that don't pinch you anywhere, so when I find something like this I am tempted to buy it in every single colour I can find.

Luckily, they were on sale too. Original price was £29.99, I bought the tan ones first and paid £19.99 and then with the further reduction I snapped the black pair for £15.99! Almost 2 for the price of 1, how could I resist?
The tan ones are the same colour as the Zara plaited shopper bag, and the black ones just go with everything.

Dior haute couture make up inspiration

Hi guys,

Today I am looking at the amazing make up at the Dior catwalk haute couture show.

The latest Dior show was a few days ago and after 15 long years, this is the first show not designed by Galliano. The reviews are poor and the clothes didn't seem to be a hit with the fashion crowd. The show just didn't have the wow factor that used to and I totally agree with that. In my opinion, it was just a big mixture of different designs that didn't seem to have much connexion and sequence with each other, therefore they didn't have a good flow on the catwalk.

The make up on the other hand was gorgeous and quite inspirational. There were 2 versions, one is a beautiful mixture of smoked eyes, mixed with glitter and swarovski crystals which are applied one by one. A fantastic party time idea.

I know the sequins idea is quite over the top but if are daring, it's an interesting suggestion for a clubbing night out for example.

The second look used was colour blocking, another great look but nothing new there, since it had already been done by Dior last year, makes me wonder why are they repeating it? I think the Swarovski make up was good enough and should have been the only one on the catwalk.
Essentially this has been Dior's mistake for this haute couture season, shooting in too many directions without a strong theme.

Catch up with the show and take your own conclusions.

The designing I must say is questionable isn't it? What's with the moon? I want to know, lol.
Let's just stick with the make up, shall we?

Leghila - Pop up store

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. Yesterday, we had a beautiful day in London, it was nice and warm, so I went down the shops and as I going down Portobello Road, I came across a new pop up shop. How exciting I thought at first, some cool and colourful Birkin bags made of neoprene. How fun!
In fact all the stuff there is made of neoprene. If you not very familiar with fabrics, neoprene it is used in a wide variety of applications, such as laptop sleeves, orthopedic braces and mostly commonly on wetsuits. (I've had a bikini with neoprene panels once!)

Anyways, neoprene offers a big variety of colours, which they have made into loads of different bag styles. There are some laptop cases, which are very useful but I the star of the show, would be the Birkin bag.

I have already posted on the blog about Birkin bags look-a-likes. First I came across the jersey bag, which was being made in Brazil, then later I blogged about the Thursday/Friday canvas style, from America.
I have no problems with look-a-likes whatsoever. In fact, I quite like the idea of transforming an iconic bag, into something else. It's all about the fun, the creativity and also the budget.

The budget.
When I got into the pop up store to have a closer look, I was very curious to find out how much the Birkin style or B-bag, as they are called, would be? My jaw just dropped when the sales assistant told me they were £250 and they are machine washable, she added.
Perplexed, I left the shop thinking that was a total joke! How can a neoprene bag, cost so much? At £250, I couldn't care less if they went on the washing machine or not.

I had to pay visit the website of Italian brand Leghila and I was surprised to find out that you could buy the bag cheaper from there.

I think the bags are cool, I just saw a really nice one with studs on the website, which I really liked but the price is too high, puts me off. I know I'll never be able to buy a real Birkin but in order for me to buy a styled one, I would have to be seduced by the price, which would have to be much cheaper. This always seems to be the case with the look-a-likes, they want them to be as 'it' as the real bags, but if prices are not accessible they will never be.

Navajo Aztec scarf

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. Today I am posting some pictures of this simple outfit I had chosen for cocktails with a friend, something really simple and easy for an afternoon girlie chat.

Anyways, I was telling you guys on my previous post about this scarf, from Primark. I first saw it on a colleague at work, she had it in a different colour and I loved it straightaway, than later I saw that they also had it in a coral/turquoise combination, I saw it someone else wearing it. I wanted them so badly, whichever colour I could get, I would be happy with.
I had huge intentions to make to Primark, but just didn't happen. I've been busy and so it took me ages to get there. One day, I went to the one in Hammersmith, where I hadn't been in ages, I had the hope to find the scarf there since that store it's not as busy as the one in Oxford St.

So, I got there just to find one scarf and that one was in someone else's neck! Making matters worst, I did ask the lady if she wanted to sell hers... She must have thought I was CRAZY!
The scarf btw, had been sold out at Primark a long, long time ago.

Moral of the story: Ebay-ed and got one in the end. Hurray!

I love it so much I have been wearing for days in a row and it has all my favourite colours for the Summer. It so goes with everything.

Hi guys,

Tonight I am posting some inspirational pictures from the 'belle' of premieres, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

She has been very busy at the red carpet, with all the premieres she's been attending, nonetheless she looks stunning in every single one of them. Wearing fantastic gowns, that you and I could only dream of.

I quite like this short dress for the red carpet too, it's slightly more casual but it works.

Given the chance to have one for myself, I would chose dress number 3. It's the most amazing fabric and it's my favourite of them all. It's always fabulous to have a selection of nice dresses to wear. Despite the budget, it's just nice to have choice and outfits for different occasions, of course. I was browsing the other day and found out this new website called KandCo.com where they had a really cool selection of evening dresses and casual ones as well. They offer multi brands so you will be spoiled for choices there. That's my tip ;-)

I'm speechless with Balmain's resort collection 2012.

I have been obsessing with Navajo/Aztec and ethnic prints it's been a couple of years already. Sometimes it can be quite hard to find beautiful key pieces with those prints, pieces that you truly love and will wear over and over again despite the trends, and if you know how to tame down your prints with basics, they can be classics for ever.

I am looking to buy some new luggage for myself and this time I want something quite durable, not like the last suitcase I bought that squeaked so badly, it was embarrassing to carry it around, honestly it was awful. Also, I want to have a matching set.

DIY Bettie Page fringe/bangs

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well enjoying the hot weather. Talking about the weather, Summer is the hardest time to keep your hair looking good, you guys know the drama... Summer = humidity, humidity = curls and kinks.

My biggest drama is my fringe! I have a huge 'cow lick' right at the front that makes my hair jump upwards madly. I shouldn't really have a fringe to be honest, is not the most suitable thing for my hair but I love having it and I couldn't not imagine myself without one anymore.
Along the years, I got to know my fringe very well and due so many disasters at the hairdressers I decided that I know best and so I cut my fringe myself! My hairdressers friends laugh at me because it takes me a few cuts to get it right but to be honest it's never right...lol
My fringe has a life of it's own, some days it's fine, others I wake up like Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary. So, I do my cut in stages, which may take me a couple of days.

You guys have commented a lot about my fringe and so that is how it got started, initially I used to wear it straight across and then a few years back, I came across the 'pin up' fringe. I tried it and got hooked on that hairstyle. (because I think it makes my face looks a bit slimmer and less like a chipmunk).

Nowadays quite a few celebrities have had a go on the Bettie Page style, making it more popular.

Burlesque queen Dita, has got it to perfection!

Nicole Scherzinger , has a pretty neat hairstyle going on.

Kate Perry, on the other hand has a fringe a bit like mine.

Beyonce, opted for the easy option, a wig.

Petra Nemcova, has a subtle one.

Sabrina Sato, (Brazilian actress) recently got hugely slated by the Brazilian press because of her new 'bangs'!

Are you feeling inspired?

So, the main and most crucial step for a pin up fringe is obviously to get the shape right. I try to get mine into a soft curve, more or less like a U shape. I visualize this shape and then I am ready for the trimmers. With my hair completely dry, I divide my hair into sections, the first layer is the bottom one, where I'll cut it shorter so when the hair falls on top, I won't get wispy poking out bits at the bottom, then I'll cut the second layer slightly longer than the first one and that's how it goes, you just have to be careful not to go very high on your temples. A tip is to start the cut from the base of the fringe and work upwards towards your temples.

To achieve this look, the easiest way for me is to cut my hair with a pair of mini clippers! It was scary at first but luckily I have never caught my eyebrows.

If you get the shape right, second thing to do is to use some hair straighteners. I decided that I need to make my life easier and tame my hair once for all but if you have no problems with your fringe you can just use them to curly it a bit more for that perfect pin up look.

And finally a good layer of hairspray should hold everything in place, just like in the old 50's.

Amazing weather today isn't it? The combination for today was orange and brown, one of my favourites lately... So hot today, I was actually boiling with the jacket! It's so nice to have the sun again but the sudden change of the temperature feels too much. I should just enjoy and not complain!
